1 Great White Egret and 1 Hen Harrier (ringtail), 50 Pink-footed Geese on the marsh and also 45 Black-tailed Godwit disturbed by harrier - Donkey Stand Flash, Parkgate.

October 30:
2 Water Rail in duck pond, 1 Peregrine chasing waders on the shore and 1 Kingfisher down the River Birket - Leasowe Lighthouse.
1 Wheatear on the strandline, 1 Short-eared Owl came in from Middle Eye direction - West Kirby Shore.
4 Short-eared Owl off Denhall Quay, also 1 Hen Harrier (ringtail) off Decca Pools.

October 29:
2 Great White Egret, 1 Water Rail and 1 Greenshank - Donkey Stand Flash, Parkgate.
1 Purple Sandpiper - pontoon on New Brighton Marine Lake.
1 Wheatear on beach -  Leasowe Gunsite.
1 Mediterranean Gull near Leasowe Lighthouse.
220 Pink-footed Geese heading over Little Neston heading towards Burton.
1 Hen Harrier (ringtail) - Decca Pools, heading towards Parkgate.
12 Whooper Swan - Inner Marsh Farm hide, also 8 Barnacle Geese, presumably feral.
At least 65 Brent Geese - Hilbre.

October 28:
1 Twite, 2 Bar-tailed Godwit, 7 Spotted Redshank, 3 Greenshank and c400 Knot, 1 Great White Egret could be seen distantly on the English side of the river - Connah's Quay Reserve.
1 Yellow-browed Warbler - Point of Ayr.
672 Great Crested Grebe between Hoylake and Leasowe Lighthouse, c20 Common Scoter flying.
3 Purple Sandpiper, 240 Turnstone and 140 Redshank - pontoon on New Brighton Marine Lake.
2 Great White Egret, 1 Hen Harrier (ringtail), 1 Merlin, 1 Raven, 180 Pink-footed Geese flying S and 900 Pintail - Neston Marsh off Moorside Lane.

October 27:
58 Brent Geese - West Kirby Shore at high tide.
1 Short-eared Owl, 7 Brent Geese, 4,500 Shelduck and 110 Skylark - Cottage Lane, Heswall, at high tide which came right up to wall, spectacular numbers of gulls, waders and wildfowl moved up the estuary past here as the tide came in.
1 Peregrine, 2 Kingfisher, 1,500+ Pintail and 80 Pink-footed Geese - Burton Mere Wetlands.
2 Great White Egret off Donkey Stand Flash, Parkgate, at high tide, 1 Kingfisher there late afternoon.
1 Greenland Wheatear,15 Whooper Swan and 1 Marsh Harrier on Burton Outer Marsh.

5 Lapland Bunting, 21 Brambling, 1 Firecrest and 1,265 Chaffinch - highlights from Red Rocks, early morning during a Visible Migration watch.
1 Great White Egret with 180+ little egrets into roost, also 12 Whooper Swan and 1 Peregrine - Burton Mere Wetlands.
1 Goshawk - flew across estuary, Heswall.

October 25:
1 Swallow, 1 Greenland Wheatear, 5 Stonechat, 43 Brent Geese (13 juvs), 143 Shelduck, 4,800 Oystercatcher, 380 Curlew and 1 Peregrine - West Kirby Shore at high tide, 139 Fieldfare, 26 Redwing, c100 Chaffinch, 40 Goldfinch and 800 Starling over.
1 Hen Harrier (ringtail) over Hilbre (seen from West Kirby).
At least 13 Gannet off Red Rocks over high tide.
2 Raven - Parkgate.
2 Great White Egret came in to roost this evening, also at least 128 Little Egret - Burton Mere Wetlands.

October 24:
10,000 Oystercatcher, 10,000 Knot and 13,000 Dunlin plus 619 Curlew, 81 Bar-tailed Godwit, 219 Redshank, 331 Grey Plover and 41 Sanderling on the shore, 160 Redwing overhead, 37 Pink-footed Geese flew out of the estuary, 800 Shelduck on the tide and 1 Peregrine - West Kirby Shore over high tide.
2 Water Rail in 'duck pond', 8 Gannet offshore, 150 Chaffinch, 350 Starling and 50 Fieldfare on passage - Leasowe Lighthouse.
1 Lapland Bunting, 2 Gannet, 1 Peregrine, 1 Firecrest male, 4,290 Starling, 1,650 Chaffinch, 8 Brambling and 6 Siskin - Red Rocks.
1 Curlew Sandpiper - Burton Mere Wetlands, 2 Great White Egret came in to roost last night (before the reserve closing time of 6pm).
1 Marsh Harrier - Neston Old Quay.

October 23:
65 Redwing and 60 Chaffinch flying south, 1 Water Rail heard - Parkgate Marsh.
2 Water Rail in 'duck pond' by Leasowe Lighthouse.
1 Curlew Sandpiper, 1 Ruff, 1 Peregrine and 50 Pink-footed Geese (flew out to estuary) - Burton Mere Wetlands, Kingfisher seen here most days.
1 Hen Harrier (ringtail) - Heswall Marsh.
50 Linnet and Hen Harrier (ringtail) - Oakenholt Marsh.
6 Greenshank, 14 Spotted Redshank, 1 Peregrine and 1 Raven- Connah's Quay Reserve.

October 22:
38 Brent geese at Middle Eye and 1 Red Throated Diver off Hilbre.
2 Water Rail in 'duck pond' by Leasowe Lighthouse, 1 Peregrine on the sand bank.
1 Wheatear on rocks by Hoylake Lifeboat Station.
13 Whooper Swan and 1 Curlew Sandpiper - Inner Marsh Farm hide.
Visible migration at Red Rocks included - 707 Chaffinch, 9 Brambling, 7 Coal Tit, 5 Reed Bunting, 3 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 5 Golden Plover, 20 Long-tailed Tit and 2 Bullfinch.

October 21:
1 Wheatear and at least 70 Blackbirds in the area - Leasowe Lighthouse.
1 Mediterranean Gull (2nd win) and 134 Black-tailed Godwit - Gilroy Nature Park, West Kirby.
1 Snow Bunting, Tree Pipit, 743 Chaffinch, 6 Brambling and 1 Swallow - Hoylake.
1 fem Merlin, 2 juv Pomarine Skua, 1 Arctic Tern, 1 Great Skua, 1 Red -throated Diver, 3 Gannet and a late 'commic' Tern - Point of Ayr.

October 20:
1 Swallow and 12 probable Whooper Swan (distant) - Burton Mere Wetlands, 1 Great White Egret roosted last night.
1 Hen Harrier (ringtail) and 1 Water Rail heard, 1 probable Great White Egret seen to fly up from Denhall Quay area - Parkgate, 9 Whooper Swan flew east.
46 Pintail in gutter - Thurstaston Shore.
30 Whooper Swan, 538 Lapwing, 16 Golden Plover and 4 Redpoll - Inner Marsh Farm hide.
38 Brent Geese - Hilbre.
1 Leach's Petrel and 2 Arctic Skua - Hoylake.
6 Whooper Swan, 1 Pink-footed Goose, 2 Water Rail and 1 Great Egret - Parkgate Marsh.

October 19:
2 Leach's Petrel, 2 Arctic Skua and 4 Whooper Swan - Hilbre.
1 ad Mediterranean Gull near Gilroy Nature Park, 2 Raven over Village Road - West Kirby.
1 Merlin, 6 Pink-footed Geese, 5 Whooper Swan, 1 Goldeneye (fem), 2 Raven and 2 Stonechat - Burton Mere Wetlands.

October 18:
36 Pink-footed Geese, 4 Whooper Swan and 1 Bewick's Swan - Burton Mere Wetlands.
2 Pomarine Skua and 1 Leach's Petrel - Hoylake Shore.
3 Leach's Petrel, 13 Kittiwake, 1 Brent Goose and a possible Cory's Shearwater but a long way out - Leasowe Gunsite.
1 Snow Bunting - Meols Embankment, blown towards Leasowe Lighthouse at 1pm.
1 Leach's Petrel and 7 Kittiwake - Wallasey Lifeguard Station at 4.15pm.

October 17:
2 Great White Egret roosted overnight, 6 Whooper Swan, 1 Bewick's Swan and 1 Marsh Harrier (juv) - Burton Mere Wetlands.
15 Spotted Redshank - Connah's Quay Reserve.

October 16:

1 first winter Red-flanked Bluetail (trapped and ringed), also 1 Firecrest and 1 Short-eared Owl - Hilbre, Bluetail still present at 5pm.
1 Short-eared Owl, probable Cetti's Warbler heard calling - Neston Reedbed.
1 Greenshank and at least 100 Grey Plover -  Leasowe Lighthouse.

October 15:
1 Richard's Pipit, dropped in south end of island then flew off calling - Hilbre, also 1 Pomarine Skua, 1 Firecrest, 1 Short-eared Owl, 1 Shoveler and 1 Peregrine.
1 Greenshank, 10 Redpoll, 15 Redwing and 3 Blackcap -  Leasowe Lighthouse, also 2 Water Rail in by pond and 1 Peregrine on groyne.
5 Common Buzzard calling over Stapledon Wood, Caldy.
805 Great Crested Grebe between Hoylake and Leasowe Lighthouse at high tide.
1 Green Sandpiper - Donkey Stand Flash, Parkgate.
Visible migration at first light, highlights were - 1 Yellow-browed Warbler, 1 Lapland bunting, 2 Ring Ouzel, 8 Sparrowhawk, 78 Redwing, 385 Chaffinch, 14 Brambling, 87 Greenfinch, 4 Siskin and 1,170 Starling - Red Rocks.
10 Grey Partridge in field near Thurstaston, 1 Swallow over Tinker's Dell.
1 Yellow Wagtail - Neston Old Quay, by stream, also 1 Merlin.

October 14:
1 Firecrest (trapped) and 1 Lapland Bunting over - Hilbre.
1 Firecrest - Caldy Hill, in area cleared for heather near top end of Boundary Road.
Steady Visible Migration at Target Road, Heswall Shore observed between 1015 am and 1130am including - 120 Redwing, 220 Chaffinch and 348 Starling, also 1 Peregrine, 1 Greenshank and 6,900 Redshank.
1 Cattle Egret - Inner Marsh Farm/Burton Mere Wetlands, seen well from reception hide.
85 Linnet, 40 Fieldfare, 30 Redwing and 20 Chaffinch moving south - Parkgate.
865 Chaffinch and 12 Brambling - Red Rocks this morning.
1 Yellow-browed Warbler on footpath just west of Leasowe Lighthouse.
226 Great Crested Grebe, 12 Guillemot and 1 Gannet (all on the sea) - Meols Shore at high tide.

October 13:
2,000 Teal and c50 Shoveler - Burton Mere Wetlands, at least 500 Fieldfare over during the afternoon.
2 Peregrine and 1 Merlin with good number of roosting waders from the West Hide, 5 Greenshank and 7 Spotted Redshank from the Middle Hide - Connah's Quay Reserve.
1 Great Northern Diver close in to Leasowe Lighthouse at high tide.
6 Greenshank - Bevyl Road Flash, Parkgate.
440 Fieldfare (several flocks) - Gilroy Nature Park, West Kirby, 1 Raven heard.
5 Brent Geese (1 dark-bellied) and 80 Fieldfare - West Kirby Shore, also 5,110 Oystercatcher, 1 Raven and 1 Peregrine.
11 Little Egret and at least 100 Fieldfare over - Hoylake Shore.
1 Raven over Stapledon Wood, Caldy.

October 12:

5 Brent Geese - West Kirby Shore.
6 Brent Geese on sea by Little Eye at high tide.
2 Great White Egret flew over Denhall Quay at dusk on way to roost.

October 11:
4 Whooper Swan and 1 Hen Harrier - Burton Mere Wetlands.
7 Brent Geese (pale-bellied) - West Kirby Shore, also 5,800 Oystercatcher, 5 Little Egret and 250 Curlew.
1 Pomarine Skua (sat on beach between 1 and 2pm), 15 Leach's Petrel, 1 Sabine's Gull (juv), 109 Kittiwake, 19 Arctic Skua, 2 Long-tailed Duck, 1 Velvet Scoter and 500+ Common Scoter - highlights from Hoylake Shore.
10 Leach's Petrel - New Brighton, including 8 between 12 noon and 12.42pm.
1 Hen Harrier (ringtail) - Neston Reedbed, appeared to go to roost there about 4.15pm, also 1 Merlin.

October 5:
1 Great White Egret still showing off Parkgate this morning.
9 Curlew Sandpiper, 2 Ruff, 7 Dunlin, 72 Black-tailed Godwit and 1 Peregrine (very close) and c60 Little Egret in trees and on reserve - Burton Mere Wetlands.
1 Curlew Sandpiper - Leasowe Lighthouse.

October 4:
1 Great White Egret flew between Donkey Stand Flash and Bevyl Road Flash, Parkgate, 2 Little Stint on Donkey Stand Flash and 8 Greenshank at Bevyl Road Flash, also 1 Peregrine tried to take a Little Egret this evening, 1 Hen Harrier and 1 Barn Owl.
1 Pectoral Sandpiper, 5 Curlew Sandpiper and 1 Peregrine - Burton Mere Wetlands, 1 Great White Egret in front of hide this evening before flying to roost, 1 Kingfisher seen well over the Meres.
A late Swift and 2 Raven over Deeside industrial Estate.
3 Curlew Sandpiper - Hoylake Shore.
80 Pink-footed Geese flying NNW - Neston.

October 3:
2 Great White Egret in marsh near Bevyl Road Flash, Parkgate this morning, also 14 Greenshank.
1 Greenshank and 2 Mediterranean Gull - Leasowe Lighthouse.
1 Little Stint, 5 Curlew Sandpiper, 7 Spotted Redshank, 2 Greenshank, 4 Ruff and 1 Water Rail - Inner Marsh Farm hide.

October 2:
3 Bullfinch, 4 Blackcap, 1 Water Rail, 1 Stonechat, 30+ Meadow Pipit and 50+ Grey Plover - Leasowe Lighthouse.

1 Great White Egret came into roost at Burton Mere wetlands at 7pm.
1 Pectoral Sandpiper this morning but flushed by a falcon, also 1 Egyptian Goose, 7 Curlew Sandpiper and 7 Spotted Redshank - Burton Mere Wetlands.
1 fem Ring Ouzel -Leasowe, near train station.
1 Wheatear on groyne, 1 Peregrine on sandbank, 100 Grey Plover and a small movement of Meadow Pipits- Leasowe Lighthouse.
1 late Swift over Red Rocks, also 7 Swallow, 175 Meadow Pipit, 38 Redpoll, 13 Mistle Thrush, 190 Chaffinch, 2 Rook, 6 Jackdaw,15 Siskin, 5 Crossbill, 1 Tree Sparrow, 1 Green Woodpecker, 2 Great Spotted Woodpecker and 9 Grey Wagtail.

1 Great White Egret off Parkgate, south end of prom but distant this morning, also 1 Little Stint at Donkey Stand Flash.
Small flocks of Chaffinches flying south past the cliffs at Thurstaston all morning, on 'Visible Migration'.
1 Egyptian Goose, 5 Shoveler, 40 Teal and 130 Black-tailed Godwit - Gilroy Nature Park, West Kirby.
23 Sandwich Tern and 7 Redpoll (flew in off sea) - Leasowe Lighthouse.

1 Honey Buzzard flew south over Connah's Quay and Wepre Woods.

September 28:
1 Pectoral Sandpiper briefly then flew high west, 1 Marsh Harrier, 1 Merlin, 13 Curlew Sandpiper and 2 Greenshank - Burton Mere Wetlands.
1 Great White Egret - Riverbank Road Heswall flew into marsh at 1030am but didn't reappear, 1 Greenshank before high tide, plenty of Shelduck, Curlew etc on the marsh edge but tide didn't come in over the marsh.
3 Curlew Sandpiper, c3,000 Dunlin and c30 Bar-tailed Godwit, a 'carpet' of gulls on the sea at high tide including at least 4,500 Herring Gull and 90 Great Black-backed Gull - Hoylake Shore.
2 Peregrine, 1 Little Stint, 1 Green Sandpiper, 1 Merlin and 2 Hen Harrier (both ringtail) - Donkey Stand Flash, Parkgate, at high tide.
